Why Use Disposable Email?

Your main email address is a key that unlocks much of your online life. Every time you hand it out, you increase the chance that it ends up on a spam list, in a data breach or in a marketing database. A disposable address lets you keep that key in your pocket for the moments that do not deserve it.

Cut down on spam at the source

Many sites ask for an email address only to send a single confirmation link — and then keep mailing you for years. With a temporary address you receive the link you need, and any later messages go to an inbox that no longer exists.

Limit the damage of data breaches

Large databases of email addresses leak regularly. If a site you used once is breached, an address that expired months ago is useless to attackers and cannot be linked back to your other accounts.

Avoid being profiled

An email address is a stable identifier that advertisers and data brokers use to connect your activity across services. Using a different, short-lived address for low-stakes sign-ups makes that linking much harder.

Test without clutter

Developers, designers and QA testers often need many fresh addresses to try sign-up flows, password resets or notification templates. Temporary inboxes make that quick and keep test messages out of real mailboxes.

When a disposable address is the wrong choice

Use your permanent address for anything involving money, identity, employment, health, or account recovery. If you might need to receive a message in a week or a month, a temporary inbox is not appropriate. And remember that misusing any email service to deceive or harm others is against our Terms of Service.
